Detox week for me

I love to eat. I really do, but I think I may have exaggerated for the past two weeks. Since we went to Berlin for a weekend away, I haven’t been able to stop myself from eating all the sweet and savoury things I see. Have you ever felt like that, like you’ve ‘fallen off the wagon’ ? If you’re a girl most likely the answer will be ‘yes, almost every month’. Actually I think these days men are also conscious of their dietary and opting for healthier lifestyles, so maybe, from time to time they fall off the wagon too? I think everyone does.

Either way, I decided it was time for an intervention. Nothing extreme like juicing or eat pineapple for three days; I am a foodie, so I can never really give up food. And to be quite honest I never really have terrible eating habits, it’s just lately there’s been a lot of desserts, pasta, starters, burgers, carbs… I thought it was better to intervene. Also as I mentioned before my cholesterol is quite high for someone my age and size (I’m tiny) so I have to be very careful not to be constantly off that ‘healthy wagon’.

For my detox (6 days only) I am eating loads of vegetables and fruit, drinking loads of water and green tea and adding some lean protein like lean pork meat , chicken, eggs and fish as well. The idea is to eat as much fruit and raw vegetables (spinach, lettuce, tomato, etc) as possible and add the proteins to the three main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

I’ll also keep doing my morning exercises. It gives me energy and actually makes me happy every morning. As I quit my job and can’t really afford the gym right now, I follow YouTube videos by the lovely Tone it Up girls (absolutely love them!) and the great Anna Renderer from Popsugar Fitness. Today I did HIIty Bitty Bikini and Bikini Kettlebell from TIU and The Ultimate Inner Thigh Workout from Popsugar fitness.

Awesome right? I’m feeling great so far. OK, it’s only been 5 hours since I woke up and started the detox but so far I’m not starving. I had scrambled eggs with spinach for breakfast, a strawberry, raspberry and pineapple smoothie and will have left over ‘lean pork’ roast with loads of veggies (no gravy, potatoes or Yorkshire pudding). Let’s see by the end of this week how I feel. Maybe I’ll lose all my bubbliness, turn into a gremlin and start eating the furniture, who knows? I’ll update the results next week (if I survive).

This was my smoothie this morning, it was really yummy:
